Quick and easy crochet beanie pattern

I was so excited at the thought of coming up with a quick and easy beanie pattern, my joy knew no end when it worked out exactly as planned, do you know how it feels when a pattern works out just as planned? It was a delight; I couldn’t resist working up 3 beanies for a few hours.

Quick Crochet Beanie pattern for 5 different sizes

I present you with my “Pebble beanie pattern” which is a quick and easy beanie pattern. This pattern is designed such that you could make yourself some cute beanies within a few minutes, yes – you read those correctly, you can make yourself a hat within a few mins.

This pattern is worked from the brim up, and you can easily size it to your preference.

Yarn choice for this easy beanie pattern

Any Chunky weight yarn would be perfect for this easy and quick beanie pattern. #5 Yarn in color(s) would make a fast project.

I made this easy beanie pattern using the beautiful Wander Acrylic Yarn, #4 Worsted Weight (100% Acrylic, 120 yards/109 m per 3 oz/100g Ball) by Furls.

Materials for this easy beanie pattern

Yarn – This quick and easy crochet beanie-free pattern can be made using any worsted weight of yarn.

So far, I have made two beanies using different brands of yarn and I love both looks. The first version modeled was made using Scheepjes Chunky Monkey.

I recently made another version using Wander Acrylic Yarn, #4 Worsted Weight, (100% Acrylic, 120 yards/109 m per 3 oz/100g Ball)

Sample made in Beige and Cream

1(1, 1, 1) ball in Beige (Color A)

1(1, 1, 1) ball in Cream (Color B)

  • HOOK AND OTHER MATERIALS

US size J/10 (6 MM), or size needed to obtain gauge for your yarn choice

Pompom (optional)

Yarn needle

GAUGE

13 sts X 14 Rows = 10cm/4” made in sc.

Adjust hook size if necessary, to obtain gauge

Pattern notes

  1. Similar #5 weight yarn can be substituted, please check the gauge.
  2.  Suggested substitutes include: Lion Brand Color Made Easy, Caron Chunky Cupcakes, Stylecraft Bellissima Chunky, Red Heart Comfort Chunky or Red Heart Super Saver Chunky
  3. Chains at the beginning of the rows count as a stitch unless stated.
  4. Skip all ch sps unless instructed to work into them
  5. For a perfect fit, make starting chains a good fit around your head in multiples of 3.
  • Take time to check the dimensions given below, you may go a size up or down if needed.
  • Lastly, you can make your starting chain as long or short as you desire, but in multiples of 3.

Instructions for this quick and easy crochet beanie pattern

Brim

Round 1: With A, ch 45 (48, 51, 54, 57), join to form a ring, ch 1, sc in each ch around, join. 45 (48, 51, 54, 57 sc)

Round 2: Ch 1, sc around, join. 45(48, 51, 54, 57 sc)

Rounds 3 – 4 (5, 6, 6, 8): Rep Round 2.

Fasten off A, join B

Body

Round 5 (6, 7, 7, 9): Ch 1, sc across, join. 45 (48, 51, 54, 57 sc)

Round 6 (7, 8, 8, 10): Ch 1, *sc in next, ch 2, skip 2, rep from * to end, join. 15 ch sps/15 sc (16 ch sps/16 sc, 17 ch sps/17 sc, 18 ch sps/18 sc, 19 ch sps/19 sc)

Round 7 (8, 9, 9, 11): Ch 3(counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same st, *skip next ch sp, 3 dc in next, rep from * to end, join. 15 – dc clusters (16 dc clusters, 17 dc clusters, 18 dc clusters, 19 dc – cluster)

  

Round 8 (9, 10, 10, 12): Ch 1, *FPsc in middle st, ch 3, skip next 2 sts, rep from * to end, join. 15 ch sps/15 FPsc, (16 ch sps/16 FPsc, 17 ch sps/17 FPsc, 18 ch sps/18 FPsc, 19 ch sps/19 FPsc)

Free Beanie pattern

Repeat Round 7 (8, 9, 9, 13) and Round 8(9, 10, 10, 14): 3(4, 5, 6) more times

  1. Real Bobble beanie
  2. Lillian Cardigan
  3. Diaphanous beanie and cowl
  4. Real Bobble cardigan

For a slouchy Beanie, repeat till your desired length.

Do not fasten off.

Crown

Round 1: Ch 1, *sc in next, sc in ch sp, rep from * to end, join. 30 (32, 34, 36, 38 sc)

Pebble Beanie Pattern

Round 2: Ch 2, hdc2tog across, join. 15 (16, 17, 18, 19 hdc)

Round 3: Ch 2, hdc2tog across, join. 8 (8, 9, 9, 10 hdc)

Round 4: Rep round 3. 4 (4, 5, 5, 5 hdc)

Leave a long tail of yarn, cut the yarn, and sew close the remaining stitches.

Weave in ends.
