How to work the second  crossed double crochet lace 

Next row of crossed double crochet lace (xdcl) = *ch 1,  skip ch1 -sp, next st and next ch 1-sp, dc in next st (this is the first leg of xdcl made into the 4th stitch), ch 1,  crocheting over the dc just made, dc in the second leg (st) stitch.

Note: When making the second row of xdcl, you only crochet into the dc stitches and skip all chain 1 spaces.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd chain from hook and in each ch across, turn. 11 hdcRow 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout the pattern), dc in first st, *ch 1, skip next 3 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, dc in 2nd skipped st, rep from * until last 2 sts, ch 1, skip next st, dc in last st, turn. 2Xdcl, 2 dc

Refer to the special stitch section on completing the second row of xdcl stitch.

Row 3: Ch 2, Ch 1, dc in first st, xdcl across, Ch 1, dc in last st, turn.2 Xdcl, 2 dc

Repeat row 3 until your scarf measures 50 (70, 100)” or until you have the desired length for your perfect fit.

Row 51 (71, 87): Ch 1, hdc in each st across.11 hdc

Edging

  • Crocheting around the entire piece
  • Aim for 2 sc in each ch 2 sp and dc across the long edge of the panel.
  • Aim for (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) at each turning corner.
  • Turn so that you are crocheting across the long edge.

Round 1: Ch 1, *(2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc), crocheting down the long side of the panel, sc evenly until the next corner, (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc), sc in next 11 sts, repeat from * to the end, join with a sl st to the beginning chain.
