Crochet coasters flower pot free pattern

Meet the new addition to the blog! The Crochet coasters flower pot-free pattern is a cute way to decorate your tables and prevent you from misplacing your coasters.

If you have been following my designs, you will probably remember that I find it challenging to keep my crochet coasters for many weeks. After I designed this pouch for my coasters, I knew my subsequent coaster designs would always need a fancy pouch.

How to assemble the flower coasters

Step 1: Fold the lower corner of the “square”

Step 2: Roll one side of the corner to cover the lower end from step 1.

Step 3: Roll the second corner also and place it inside the pot. Repeat with the remaining costers.

Optional: 

Spread out the corners of the coasters to create a beautiful petal effect. 

Place each coater in the pot.

Materials

Yarn: Hobbii Kind Feathers, #3 lightweight (100% Acrylic, 257 yards/235 m per 3.75 oz/100g Skein)

Hook size = 3.5 mm

Guage = is not crucial for this project.

Estimated Yardage

20 Yards per coaster

Pot: 30 yards.

Finished Measurement

The crochet coaster sets finished measurements:

Coaster = 6 by 6” Across the widest part of the coaster.

The Flower Pot Measurement:

Base: 4”, Body: 3”

Adjustments

Size: Use bigger-weight yarn for a larger coaster.

Section 1: Crochet coasters flower pattern 

Round 1: In a MR, ch 3, 2 dc, (ch 2, 3 dc), rep () 2 more times, ch 2, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 12 dc/4 corners

Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same ch 2 sp, (ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in ch 2 sp), rep () 2 more times, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2) in last ch 2 sp, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 24 dc/4 corners

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in same ch 2 sp, *ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch 2 sp, rep from * 2 more times, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2 in last ch 2 sp, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 36 dc/4 corners

Round 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in same ch 2 sp, *ch 1, 3 dc in next 2 ch 1 sps, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch 2 sp, rep from * 2 more times, ch 1, 3 dc in next 2 ch 1 sps, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2 in last ch 2 sp, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 48 dc/4 corners

Round 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in same ch 2 sp, *[ch 1, 3 dc] in next 3 ch 1 sps, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch 2 sp, rep from * 2 more times, ch 1, 3 dc in next 3 ch 1 sps, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2 in last ch 2 sp, join with a sl st to the beginning ch.  60 dc/4 corners

Round 6: *ch 3, skip next 2 ch 1 sps and next st, (dtr, ch 1) in next st, rep () 7 more times in the same stitch, ch 2, sc in next ch 2 sp, rep from * one more time, hdc in each st/ch sp across until next ch 2 sp, (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in ch sp, hdc in each st/ch sp across the end, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 42 hdc, 16 dtr, 42 hdc. 

Round 7: Ch 2, skip ch 3 sp, *(tr, ch 1) in next st, (tr, ch 1) in next ch sp, rep from * until ch 3 sp, skip the ch 3 sp, sc in next st (corner), ch 1, rep from *until next corner, sc in next corner, sc in each st across until next ch 2 sp, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in ch 2 sp, sc in remaining sts, sl st to ch 2 sp, 30 tr, 44 sc

Fasten off.

Section 2: Coaster Pot

This pot would fit 5 coasters and one placemat.

Part A: Base

Round 1: In a magic ring, ch 2, 12 hdc, join.  12 dc.

Or ch 4, 12 hdc in 4th ch from hook, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 12 hdc.

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 24 hdc.

Round 3: Ch 2, *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 36 hdc.

Round 4: Ch 2, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 48 hdc

Round 5: Ch 2, *hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 60 hdc

Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 60 hdc

Part B: Body

Round 7: Ch 2, in BLO, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 60 hdc

Rounds 8 – 15: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 60 hdc

Continue until you have your desired height.

Part C: Brim

Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in first st, *skip next 2 sts, sc in next st, skip next 2 sts, shell in next st, rep from * around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 

Fasten off. Sew in ends.
