Azure Top With Bell Sleeves Crochet Pattern
The Azure Top With Bell Sleeves is a beautiful crochet garment that combines a statement mandala-style body with flowing bell sleeves. The open crochet texture gives the top an elegant, airy look, while the dramatic sleeves add a stylish finish that makes the design stand out.
Designed using US crochet terminology, this pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner who is comfortable working in rounds, working basic crochet stitches, following repeats, shaping, and joining crochet pieces.

About the Design
The Azure Top is constructed in two main sections.
The body is made from two matching panels. Each panel begins in the center and is worked outward in rounds, gradually transforming from a circular motif into a square. Once the required width is reached, the neckline is shaped in rows.
The front and back panels are then joined at the shoulders before the sleeves are crocheted directly onto the garment. The sleeves are worked in rounds and gradually transition into the statement bell sleeve shape around the elbow.
The side seams are completed last before the finished garment is blocked to measurement.

Sizes
The pattern includes 9 sizes from XS to 5XL.
Finished bust measurements:
30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62) inches
The armhole circumference ranges from approximately:
10 (11, 12, 12, 13, 13, 14, 15, 15) inches
The suggested sleeve length is approximately 12 inches, although the sleeves can easily be adjusted to your preferred length.

Yarn
You can make the Azure Top using any DK weight yarn in the colors of your choice.
The prototype was made by holding two strands of sport weight yarn together to create a DK-weight equivalent.
Estimated yardage:
900 (1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700) yards
for sizes XS through 5XL respectively.

Materials
You will need:
- DK weight yarn
- 5.5 mm crochet hook, or another hook size needed to obtain gauge
- Darning needle
- Stitch markers for positioning the sleeves
The gauge for the pattern is:
Rounds 1–3 = 4 inches
For the best fit, work the first three rounds of the motif and measure your piece before continuing.

The Mandala-Inspired Body
One of my favorite details of this design is the way the center motif gradually develops.
The panel begins as a circular crochet motif before additional rounds transform it into a square. Decorative cluster stitches, chain spaces and shell-style sections create the beautiful open texture throughout the garment.
You may notice some curling or ruffling while making the square. This is expected during construction and should resolve once the finished pieces are properly blocked.

Statement Bell Sleeves
The sleeves are crocheted directly onto the joined front and back panels.
After establishing the sleeve around the armhole, the stitch pattern continues evenly toward the elbow. Additional stitches are then introduced to create the wider bell-shaped lower sleeve.
You can repeat the final sleeve round until the sleeve reaches your preferred length, making this part of the design easy to customize.
Finishing Your Azure Top
Once both sleeves are complete, the front and back panels are joined along the sides, beginning at the base of each sleeve.
Finally, weave in all remaining yarn ends and block the finished top to measurement. Blocking is particularly important for this design because it allows the lace pattern and square motifs to open beautifully and settle into their intended shape.
The Azure Top With Bell Sleeves is a lovely project for crocheters looking for something a little different from a traditional crochet top. With its large central motif, open stitchwork and dramatic sleeves, it creates a statement garment that can be styled in many different ways.
