Supplies needed for Catherine’s Wheel Stitch
Yarn – Any weight of yarn will work for this beautiful stitch. I used Worsted Weight for this tutorial. Crochet Hook – 4 mm hook.

Chain/chains – ch/chs
Single Crochet – sc
Double crochet – dc
Double crochet 7 stitches together -7dctog
Double crochet 4 stitches together -4dctog
Special stitch
7dctog= Yarn Over, insert your hook, YO and pull through, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook, *YO and insert your hook into the next stitch, YO and pull through, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook. Repeat from * 5 more times. When you have 8 loops on your hook, YO and pull through them all.

Important things to note before making any project using the Catherine wheel stitch
- The foundation chain should be in multiples of 10 + 7.
- You can use single or multiple colors
How to crochet the Catherine wheel stitch
With A, chain 27.
Row 1: With A, sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in next ch, *skip next 3 chs, 7 dc in next ch, skip next 3 chs, sc in next 3 chs, rep from * to the last 4 chs, skip next 3 chs, 4 dc into the last ch, turn.
Row 2: With B, ch 1, sc in first 2 sts, *ch 3, 7dctog across the next 7 stitches, ch 3, sc in next 3 sts, rep from * to last 4 sts, ch 3, dc4tog across the last 4 sts, turn.
Row 3: With B, ch 3 (counts a the first dc), 3 dc in the first st (the loop that closed the dc4tog), *skip ch 3 sp, sc in next 3 sts, skip ch 3 sp, 7 dc in next st (the loop that closed the 7dctog), rep from * to the last ch 3 sp, skip ch 3 sp, sc in the last 2 sts turn.
Row 4: With A, ch 3 (counts as a st), dc4tog, *ch 3, sc in each of the next 3 sts, ch 3, dc7tog, rep from * to the last 2 sts, ch 3, sc in next st, sc in the last st (top of the turning ch), turn.

Continue with A, crocheting around the whole piece.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, aim for 2 sc in each ch 3/dc, and (sc, ch 2, sc), at each corner, join with a sl st to the beginning ch.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st until next corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next corner, rep from * to end, join with a sl st to the beginning ch.
Optional – add 1 or 2 more rounds to measure 6” across.
Fasten off.
Sew in all ends.
