Yarn suggestion for this crochet skirt pattern for kids

For this crochet skirt, I wanted I wanted an ombre effect and in Pink. Searching through my yarn stash, I could only find sport weight yarn int he colors that I love. Hence the reason why I have doubled the yarn for a DK (#2) weight. Simply put, you need a DK weight yarn for this pattern.

Yarn – This prototype was made using Hobbii Twister, 4 ply (55% Cotton, 45% Acrylic, 1000 m (1,094 yds) per 250 g (8.8 oz) Ball)

Prototype made using – Rhubarb & Cream (33)

Please note that I use 2 strands of the yarn held together all through. This is equivalent to DK (#3)

16 sts over 9 rows = 4’’by 4” made in dc before blocking. 

Go up or down hook size if necessary, to obtain a gauge.
