Free Crochet Christmas Bells Pattern: 3 sizes!

Fun, festive, and beginner-friendly, these crochet Christmas bells make the perfect scrap-busting holiday project.

A few years ago, I designed a smaller size of the crochet bells, and it has since become so popular, which I am grateful for. I decided to update the pattern with more sizes.

These little bells are incredibly versatile. Hang them on your Christmas tree, string them into a garland, attach them to stockings, use them on wreaths, or add one to each wrapped gift. Larger bells make gorgeous bowl fillers or mantel decorations, while the smallest size is perfect for advent calendars and mini displays.

Project Notes & Tips

Blocking or light shaping helps the bells stand beautifully.

If you prefer a firmer structure, you can lightly starch the bells with spray starch or fabric stiffener.

Adding beads, bows, jingle bells, or glitter yarn elevates the final look and allows you to personalize each bell to your Christmas décor style.

Materials and Yarn Suggestions

These bells can be made with almost any weight of yarn.

Worsted weight gives the bells structure and a traditional look, while cotton yarn keeps them crisp if you plan to starch them.

Acrylic is perfect for ornaments and garlands, as it holds shape well with a light steam block. You’ll also need a small amount of yarn or ribbon to create the hanging loop or bow.

A small jingle bell can be added inside for a charming festive sound.
