Section 2 – Neckline
Using 6 mm crochet
Join yarn with a sl st to the beginning of the foundation chain
Place stitch marker 7th shell
Note on getting the perfect fit:
- Because this is a cold shoulder top, the neckline is meant to be wide, but the design is aimed at a “fitted” wide neckline. A round of slip stitches is added to achieve this.
- The number of skipped shells should be the same on both sides.
- You can adjust the number of skipped shells, but make sure the skipped shells are not too many.
- The number of chains at either side can also be adjusted but must be in multiples of 9.
Round 1: {Chain 27, skip next 1 shells, 2 dc in base of next shell, *skip next ch sps, sc in next st, ch 1, skip next ch sp, sc in ch sp, skip next 2 chs, 1 shell in next st (base of next shell)}, repeat from * until the stitch marker, rep {} until the end, join with a sl st to the first chain from the beginning of the round.

16 sc, 4 dc
The next step is aimed at evening out the chain spaces across the shoulder.
Step 1: Step 1: Ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch skip next 2 chs, *1 shell in next ch, skip next 2 chs, sc in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch sp, sc in ch sp, skip next 2 chs, repeat from * until the end of the ch sps, 2 dc in the next st with ch 3 sp from round 1, join with a sl st to the top of 3rd ch of ch 3 from round 1
Fasten off.
Join yarn with a sl st to the top of the 5th dc of the shells before the left shoulder. This is the last st before the next ch spaces.
Repeat as with step 1 above.
Do not fasten off
Repeat rounds 6 – 9
Repeat rounds 2 – 5
Last round: Ch 1, sl st in each st around, join with a sl st to the beginning ch.
Fasten off
Sew in all ends
