Crochet bobble sweater free pattern
The bobble sweater is the perfect garment for this season! It’s simple, cozy, and elegant. I especially love that you can customize it using different colors.

The modeled garment is shown in XL with 6” of positive ease for the model. I wear size M.

Materials for Bobbles Galore Sweater
Yarn: Stylecraft Special Aran, (#4, 100% Acrylic, 196 m per 3.5 oz/100g Ball)
This sample uses three colors: White (A), Chocolate (B), and Mustard (C).
Estimated Yardage per color/size:
Color A = 1200 (1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000) yards
Color B = 240 (260, 280, 300, 320, 340, 360, 380, 400) yards
Color C = 350 (400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650, 700, 750) yards
Hook and other Materials
6 mm Crochet Hook.
Stitch Markers – 2
Yarn needle
Gauge
12 sts over 8 rows = 4”/10 cm Square made in hdc, before blocking.
Adjust hook size if necessary, to obtain gauge.

Special Stitch
Bobbles = 7dctog – *Yarn over hook, insert hook into indicated st, yarn over, draw yarn through, yarn over and pull out 2 loops, repeat from * 6 more times, you should have 8 loops around your hook, yarn over, pull through all the loops at once.
Crossed hdc (xhdc)– skip next st, hdc in next st, crocheting over the hdc just made, work hdc into the skipped st
Construction Notes
- This sweater is worked in 2 sections.
- Section 1 – Both panels (front and Back) are made separately. The shoulder seam and side seam are then sewn together.
- Section 2 – Sleeves are made in rounds.
Adjustments/fittings
- For a smaller bobble, you can substitute 5dctog for 7dctog. However, keep the size of the bobble similar.
- Fit: I went for an oversized sweater. I usually wear a size M, but I made an XL. You can make the same size or go up a size as you wish.
- Length: Increase or decrease the repeat rows on the front panel. Remember to replicate this when making your back panel.

Shoulder Seam(s)
Turn both panels made in section 1 to the wrong side.
- Place the front panel over the back panel.
- Join yarn with a slip stitch to the edge, crocheting towards the neckline, and sc into both ends. Fasten off and repeat on the other side.
Neckline
Crocheting around the neckline, join yarn with a sl st to any st
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join.
Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join.

Joining the sleeves to the sweater
- Place the sleeves next to the shoulder seam of the sweater.
- Attach the sleeve to the body of the sweater with stitch markers to help with joining.
- Make sure you are happy with the placement.
- Turn both the sweater and the sleeves to the wrong side
- Using your hook, join the sleeves to the body of the sweater with a sl st, one at a time.
Fasten off and sew in all ends.
Side seam
With your crochet hook, join the side of the sweater together.
Fasten off
Weave in all ends.
