Frosted Windows Scarf Crochet Pattern
Some projects deserve to come out from under the blanket and join you on your winter walks! The Frosted Windows Scarf brings the winter colors and textured motifs of my Frosted Window collection into a cozy accessory. You can pair it with the Frosted window earwarmer also.

With popcorn stitches, circular centers and contrasting rounds, this scarf gives you a little variety as you crochet. Make the motifs individually, then join them into a long rectangle and finish with a simple border. Add fringe if you love that classic scarf look.

About the Pattern
The Frosted Windows Scarf combines two motif designs: circles that are squared off and textured squares. The circular motifs sit at the center, with square motifs extending toward each end.
The sample uses Linen, Navy, Silver Blue and Glacier Bay for a winter palette. Choose similar colors for this look or use your own combination, keeping the yarn weight consistent throughout.
This is an intermediate crochet pattern written in US terminology.

Joining the Motifs
Lay the motifs in a single straight line, with the right sides facing up and the two circular motifs together at the center.
Arrange them in this order:
3 square motifs, 2 circular motifs, 3 square motifs.
For easier handling, work in two halves, each containing three square motifs and one circular motif.
- Place the first two motifs with right sides together, aligning the corresponding stitches and corner spaces.
- Place stitch markers through the corner spaces at both ends of the joining edge. Add a marker at the center if helpful.
- Join Linen through the first pair of corresponding corner spaces.
- Working through both motifs, slip stitch through each pair of corresponding stitches and chain spaces along the joining edge.
- Keep the seam relaxed. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
- Continue joining the motifs in each half.
- Join the two halves together with the circular motifs meeting at the center.
For a firmer seam, use single crochet instead of slip stitch. Use the same joining method throughout.
Border and Finishing
With Linen, join yarn at an outer corner of the assembled scarf.
Round 1: Ch 1, work hdc evenly around the scarf, working (hdc, ch 2, hdc) at each of the four outer corners. Join with a sl st to the first hdc.
Fasten off and weave in all remaining ends.
Block gently according to your yarn’s care instructions, smoothing the motifs and joins into shape.
Optional Fringe
Cut equal lengths of yarn. Fold strands in half, pull the folded end through a stitch along a short edge, then pull the loose ends through the loop. Tighten gently.
Repeat across both short ends and trim evenly.
