Easy Crochet Dress pattern - Phyllis Chis Cardigan.

I am glad to have Pamela the talented designer from Pamscozycorner here with us her beautiful Phyllis Chic Cardigan Dress, which is the perfect dress to transition into spring! This dress is definitely on my to-make list. I love the details in it and I am already picturing how easy I’d slip into this dress daily.

Inspiration

I have always dreamt of designing at least one dress for myself. I have constructed in my mind several times, the styles changing with time. First, I wanted to sew. So I  decided to take sewing classes multiple times, but before long I realized that I can’t sew. I even have asked some of my friends who are tailors to help me, but I still can”t sew. I am not sure if I am the only one with this problem. I always ask myself, how come I can crochet, knit, embroider, and even cross stitch but I can’t sew.

Well, I can say I have finally made a dress/cardigan that I designed. This Phyllis Crochet Dress is my very first adult dress to design and make. I had been thinking about it lately and when the opportunity came for a guest designer I jumped on it.

Why Phyllis? Well, Phyllis is my sister. She is someone who has been there throughout my life when I fail or succeed. She always encourages me even when I want to quit. It only befits  that I honor her when I finally succeed with something that I have struggled with for a long time.

Yarn

For this project, I used Cotlin 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen from WeCrochet in three shades of grey (Carrara, Whisker, and Silver). I had never used the yarn before but I loved it. The yarn is soft and warm. It is perfect for any weather.

It is a DK yarn, which makes light enough garments that can be worn in spring, summer, and fall.

Yarn Amount – Below is the approximate amount of yarn required for this beautiful Phyllis Chic Cardigan Dress. The sizes are based on the bust. Depending on how long or short you prefer the dress, the yarn might be less or more

Pattern Notes

  • Ch 2 at the beginning of each row counts as a stitch.
  • St number is indicated at the end of the row only if there is a change from the previous row(s).
  • Front left and right pieces are made the same up to the waist. The upper part is made differently.
  • Pattern is written for size XS with other sizes in parenthesis (S, M, L, XL). For some sections, instructions for sizes may be written separately. Follow directions only for the size you are making.
  • You can adjust the length of the garment by adding or reducing the number of rows at the waist before the bodice, so that the bodice measurements are not affected.
  • Depending on how you prefer to wear the dress, add more buttons on the skirt part or no buttons at all.
  • Sl st at the beginning of the row when shaping the armhole or the neck are counted as a decrease and therefore not included in the st count for that row.

Meet the maker

Hi! I am Pamela. I am a wife and mom of four grown children, one girl, and three boys. I am also a blessed grandmother of two beautiful girls.

I have been crocheting and knitting since I was about 8 years old. I learned the art through observing the women of my small village in Kenya crochet and knit. Crochet and Knitting, as many will attest, is my happy place.

I love to design unique, modern, cozy, and comfortable things. You can tell by the name that I love all things pampered and cozy. The idea of turning yarn into modern fashion and more just melts my heart.

When I am not working on a design or at my full-time job, I love to travel, read, and most of all, go on mission trips. I love to help those who are in need by providing medical help and help in advancing their education. That is why I look forward to using some of the profits to advance my cause.

I hope you will have fun making my Phyllis Chic Cardigan Dress. If you have any questions about the pattern, feel free to contact me via email at [email protected]

Always Yearning for Yarn,

Pamela
