Crochet Towel Topper Pattern

It’s time for another quick project: the crochet towel topper-free pattern! I love that this is a perfect one-skein project that can be done in a few minutes.

I wanted to add my special touch, so I said the curls! My kids think the towel topper should be named “Octopus Towel Hanger.”

What Supply Is Needed For The Crochet Towel Topper Pattern?

Yarn – Any Worsted weight yarn in colors of your choice.

Color A = 24/7 Cotton – Worsted weight, #4 lightweight (100% Cotton, 186 yd/170 m per 3.5 oz/100g skein)

Estimated Yardage = 30 yards

Color B = Hobbii Flash it – 80% Viscose, 20% Metallic Fiber (50 g (1.75 oz), 90 m (98 yds) per 1.75oz/50g skein.

Estimated yardage = 20 yards

Easy crochet towel holder pattern

Hook = 5 mm Crochet Hook

Button – 1 Pcs

Gauge

Gauge isn’t important for this project.

Crochet Towel topper-free pattern notes

  1. Please kindly read through the pattern before starting.
  2. Any #4 weight of yarns can be substituted
  3. Chains at the beginning of Rounds or Rows do not count as a stitch.

Skill Level – Easy

Stitches

Chain(s) – ch(s)

Single Crochet – sc

Half double crochet – hdc

Slip Stitch – sl st.

Foundation Single Crochet – FSC

Finished measurement – 5” at the widest by 7” with the strap folded.

You can easily adjust this project to fit your personal preference.

How to Crochet Towel Topper Step-by-Step Tutorials

Handle

Round 1: Chain 10, join with a sl st to the first chain. Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join- 10 sc

Place stitch marker and move after every round.

Rounds 2 – 32: Sc in each st around

Round 33: 2 sc in each st around. 20 sc

Round 34: hdc in each st around. 20 hdc

Body

Round 35: *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, rep from * around. 30 hdc

Round 36: hdc in each st around. 30 hdc

Round 35: *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, rep from * around. 40 hdc

Rounds 35 – 43: hdc in each st around. 40 hdc

Curls

*Chain 15, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Continue on the main body, sc in the next 3 sts, rep from * around, and join with a sl st to the beginning chain.

For fewer curls, skip 4 sts instead of 3 sts.

Fasten off.

Button Hole

  • Pick up the Handle 
  • Join yarn with a sl st to any of the sts on the foundation round.
  • Crocheting over the sts to close up the hole.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc over both halves until the hole is completely covered, turn. 5 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. 5 sc

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, chain 6, skip next 3 sts, sc in last st, turn 2 sc, 6 ch sp

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, 8 sc in ch 6 sp, sc in last st.

Fasten off.

Button 

Sew a button on the body that corresponds to the location of the buttonhole.

Weave in all ends.

Towel Hanger hole

Open up the body

Join yarn with a sl st to the base of the body (where you had 2 sc in each st)

20 FSC, sl st to the opposite side.

Fasten off.

How to use

  1. Pass the towel through the hole created.
  1. Pass the handle through your oven handle and secure it with the button.
