How about adding a little twist to your ear warmers? I decided to make a super quick crochet crown earwarmer!

I have always loved quick crochet projects, but they excite me even more when they can be made within minutes.

I had originally planned on making just kid’s sizes, but after seeing the crown ear warmer on my boys, I figured a matching set would be perfect!

Crochet Crown Ear Warmer Sizes

The finished crown ear warmer is available in two sizes but is easily adjustable. Make your starting chain a multiple of 8 plus 2.

Child size = 18” by 2.5”

Teens/Adult size = 20” by 4”

Materials for this Crochet Crown Ear Warmer

Yarn – Any Worsted weight yarns in colors of your choice. 

The prototype was made using Lion brand 24/7 Cotton, #4 Medium, Worsted weight (100% Mesmerized Cotton, 186  yards/ 170m per 3.5 oz/100g skein)

Estimated Total Yardage

30 (40) yards

Hook – 5 mm Crochet Hook

Gauge – 15 sts over 8 Rows = 4 x 4” made in dc, before blocking.

1. Please kindly read through the pattern before starting.
2. Beginning chains count as a stitch throughout the pattern.

Stitches Abbreviations

Chain/chains – ch/chs

Single Crochet – sc

Half double crochet – hdc

Crossed half double crochet – xhdc

Special stitch

Xhdc – Crossed hdc – skip next st, hdc in next st, crocheting over the hdc just made, work hdc into the skipped stitch.

Clusters – (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the indicated stitch.

Construction Notes

1. This project is done in rounds, and you join after each round. 
2. You can adjust the fit by increasing or decreasing the foundation chain by a multiple of 8 + 2

How to crochet a crown earwarmer

Chain 74 (90)

4.5 mm hook

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, and in each ch across, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 72 (88) hdc

Round 2: Ch 2, xhdc around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain.  36 (44) xhdc

Rounds 3 – 4 (7): Ch 2, xhdc around, join with a sl st to the beginning chain. 36 (44) xhdc

Round 5 (8): Ch 4 (counts as hdc + ch 1 sp), *skip next st, hdc in next st, ch 1, rep from* to end, sl st to the beginning ch. 36 (44) hdc 

Round 6 (9): Ch 4, *skip next ch sp, hdc in next st, ch 1, rep from* to end, sl st to the beginning ch. 35 (40) hdc / ch sp

Round 7(10): Ch 3, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch sp, skip next ch sp, sc in next ch sp, skip next ch sp, rep from * until the end, sl st to the beginning ch. 9 (11) shells/sc 

Fasten off.

Weave in all ends.
