Crochet bauble ornaments free pattern

The holiday is fast approaching, and adding more quick decorations is one of my long lists. Today, I am sharing an upgraded version of the crochet bauble ornaments pattern.

These Crochet bauble ornaments are perfect for customizing the colors of your Christmas Tree decorations.

Christmas Ornament Baubles 

Materials for the Crochet bauble ornaments free pattern

Yarn – You can use any DK weight yarn for this pattern. If you choose to use any other weights, make sure to use similar weights for both sections (1 and 2).

Stylecraft Bellissima DK, #3 (100% Acrylic, 293  yards / 286 meters per 3.5 oz/100g skein). 

Estimated yardage for one bauble

Main color = 15 yards

Contrasting color = 5 yards

Hook and other materials 

  • 4 mm Crochet Hook
  • Polyfibre

Gauge

16  sts over 10  Rows = 4” across, made using hdc, before blocking.

Pattern Notes

  1. Please kindly read through the pattern before starting.
  2. Any #3 weight yarn can be substituted
  3. Chains at the beginning of Rounds do not count as a stitch.
  4. Stitch counts are indicated in bold at the end of the round.

How to Crochet bauble ornaments

Section 1: Baubles

With the Main color

Round 1: In a MR, 6 sc. 6 sc

Place stitch marker and move it after every round. Do not join.

Round 2: 2 sc in each st. 12 sc

Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st. 18 sc

Round 4: sc, *2 sc, sc in next 2 sts, rep from * 4 times, 2 sc, sc. 24 sc

Round 5: *2 sc, sc in next 3 sts, rep from * 5 more times. 30 sc

Round 6: sc in next 2 sts, *2 sc, sc in next 4 sts, rep from * 4 more times, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts. 36 sc

Round 7: *2 sc, sc in next 5 sts, rep from 5 more times. 42 sc

Rounds 8-15: sc around. 42 sc

Round 16: *Inv dec, sc in next 5 sts, rep from * 5 more times. 36 sc

Round 17: sc in next 2 sts, *inv dec, sc in next 4 sts, rep from * 4 more times, inv dec, sc in next 2 sts. 30 sc

Round 18: *Inv dec, sc in next 3 sts, rep from * 4 more times. 24 sc

Round 19: sc 1, *inv dec, sc in next 2 sts, 4 more times, inv dec, sc in next st. 18 sc

Stuff your loosely the bauble.

Round 20: *Inv dec 1, sc in next st, rep from * 4 more times. 12 sc

Round 21: *Inv dec around. 6 sc

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Close the top of the bauble by threading the yarn through the last 6 sts,  going from the center out.

Weave in your ends.

Section 2: Lace

With contrasting color

Round 1: Chain 16, join with a sl st to the first ch to make a circle, ch 1, 2 hdc in

each ch around, join. 32 hdc

Round 2: Ch 6 (counts as sc + ch 5), *skip next 3 sts, sc in next st, ch 5, rep from * to

the end, join with a sl st to first ch. 8 sc/ch Sp

Round 3: Ch 4 (counts as the first sc + ch 3 here and throughout the pattern), *sc in next

ch sp, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch sp, ch 3, rep from * to the end, join with a sl st to the 4th ch from the ch 4 sp. 8 ch sp, 12 dc, 4 sc.

Round 4: Ch 7, *sc in next ch sp, ch 6, rep from * to the end, sc in last ch sp, join with a sl st to the first chain. 8 ch sps, 9 sc

Round 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in first st, *ch 3, sc in next ch sp, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch sp, rep from * until the last ch sp, ch 3, sc in last ch sp, ch 3, join with a sl st to the top of ch 3. 8 ch sp, 12 dc, 4 sc.

Round 6: Ch 7 (counts as sc + ch 6), *skip next 3 sts, sc in next ch sp, ch 6, sc in next ch sp, rep from * to the end, join with a sl st to first ch. 8 sc/ch sp.

Round 7: Ch 7, *sc in next ch sp, ch 6, rep from * to the last ch sp, sc in last ch sp, join with a sl st to the first ch. 8 ch sp, 12, 5 sc.

Secure all the ch sps with a stitch marker.

Leave about 5” of yarn for handle sewing and cut off excess yarn.

Pass the crochet hook through the chain spaces gathered with the stitch marker. 

Handle

Chain 6, sl st to the other side of the chain space. 

Sew in all the ends.
