My signature in the crochet community is creating the reversible effect. The V-neck crochet sweater pattern is another size-inclusive crochet garment for you!

This sweater is like a two-in-one project—it has two different sides, colors, textures, and stitches.

Materials for the V neck crochet sweater pattern

Yarn choice

The type of yarn for this reversible sweater is important. Any Sport (#2) weight yarn in 2 separate colors.  This is crucial to prevent having a sweater that is super chinky and without a shape.

This prototype was made using Cotton Kings Sultan, #2 (100% Cotton, 874 yards/ 800 m per 7oz/200g Cake)

1200 (1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000) Yards in color B

Reversible V neck crochet sweater pattern Notes 

1. Please kindly read through the pattern before starting.

2. Stitch count written in black is for all sizes, but at some points, the stitch counts are color-coded for clarity, i.e., XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

3. The pattern uses one color per row/round. The two separate sides use different colors and stitches.

4. Lastly, you’ll finish off the sweater with the sleeves and border.

5. There is an option to add a hood and customize the length of your sleeves.

Construction Note

  • This sweater is made in 5 sections. 
  • Section 1: Made of rows, after which you join once you have the desired neckline depth.
  • Section 2: More width is added to form the body and the beginning of the sleeves.
  • Section 3: Add more length to the body, made in rounds, until you have your desired length.
  • Section 4: Bands – To the sweater’s lower edges. Made on each side, after which both are joined together to create a perfect double-sided effect.
  • Section 5: Sleeves – in rounds for a long sleeve effect with cuffs.

Bust Fit: You can adjust the number of repeats when working in section 2 

Sleeve: Add or reduce the number of rounds in section 5.

Sweater length: Add or reduce the number of rounds in section 3.

Stitches Abbreviations
ch – chain
st – stitch
rep – repeat
sp – space
hdc – Half double crochet
dc – double crochet
cluster – 3 dc stitches in the same sp         

V st – (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same st                

BLO – Back loop only 

FPdc – Front Post double crochet
BPdc – Back Post double crochet
Ch 1 sp – the space created by chaining 1 in the previous row/round
Ch 3 sp – the space created by chaining 3 in the previous row/round          

Special Stitches 

V sts – dc, ch 1, dc in indicated stitch.

Cluster – 3 dc in indicated stitch. 

V stitch Decrease = dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in next ch-1 sp.

Decrease Granny Cluster Stitch – Done over 2 ch-1 Spaces (Cluster dec): Dc in first ch-1 sp, YO (yarn over), insert hook in the same ch-1 sp and pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops, YO, insert hook through next ch-1 sp, pull up a loop, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO pull through all 3 loops on the hook, dc in same ch-1 sp.

Bust Measurement: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62)”
