Sizing for this crochet summer maxi dress Pattern

Sizing is everything I love about this dress. You can make this cress to suit your personality!

Size(s) and color code – XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

Bust Measurement: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62)”

Hip Measurement: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52 56, 60, 64)”

Dress Length: 40 (42, 44, 44, 46, 46, 48, 48, 50)”

Picking a size

For the skirt = Use your hip measurement. The Hip measurement is flared out, as such it has about 6 – 7” of positive ease around the hip, and -an elastic band is added to the waist, to make it snug/fitted.

For the Top = Use bust measurement.

Note that you can make different sizes for both the skirt and the top for your perfect fit.

Best yarn to crochet a summer lace dress

When crocheting a summer lace maxi dress, you’ll want to choose a yarn that is light, breathable, and drapes well. The yarn should also be durable enough to maintain the structure of the lace pattern. Here are a few types of yarn that would be suitable for this project:

  1. Cotton Yarn: This is an excellent choice for summer garments because it’s breathable, absorbs moisture, and is relatively cool. Mercerized cotton gives a slightly shiny appearance and is more resistant to multiple washes.
  2. Blend Yarns: Blends like cotton/bamboo or cotton/linen can provide the best of both worlds, combining the durability of cotton with the softness and sheen of bamboo or the breathability of linen.
  3. Lightweight yarns: Since it’s a summer skirt, choose a lightweight yarn (like lace weight, fingering, or sport weight) so that the dress isn’t too heavy or warm.

The color of the yarn is also crucial. Lighter colors will reflect heat and are typically more suitable for summer wear. However, your color choice should ultimately reflect your personal style and the look you want to achieve with your dress.

Remember to consider the care instructions for your yarn as well. If you plan on washing your dress often, you’ll want to choose a yarn that can handle frequent washing.

You can use any sport-weight yarn of your choice. For this crochet maxi dress, I used Hobbii Dahlia Mixo, #2 (100% Cotton, 874 yards/ 800 m per 7oz/200g Cake)

How do I make this Crochet Summer Maxi Dress?

1.  This dress is worked in 3 sections, the skirt (Sections 1 and 2) is worked in rounds, and the upper part of the dress (Section 3) is made in rows and crocheted separately.

2.  The second part of the skirt is the perfect place to adjust the length of your dress, you can add or reduce the number of rounds.

3.  The skirt and top parts are then joined together.
