Materials needed for this easy and quick crochet bow-pattern

Hobbii Flash it, #4 Medium, Worsted weight (80% Viscose, 20% Metallic fiber, 90 m (98 yds, 50 g / 1.75 oz)

Estimated Yardage – 80 yards

Hook and other Materials

 3.5 mm Crochet Hook

Starch (optional)

Gauge – 14 sts over 8  rows = 10 cm/4” square made in dc

Crochet Bow Pattern Notes

  1. Please kindly read through the pattern before starting.
  2. Any similar #4 weight yarn can be substituted. 
  3. You can use any comfortable hook – I wanted a firm bow, hence a much smaller hook.

Skill Level – Intermediate

Terms – US Terminology

Stitch Abbreviations

Chain/chains – ch/chs

Single Crochet – sc

Slip Stitch – sl st

Half double crochet – hdc

3rd loop

Finished Measurement of this crochet Christmas Bow

Instructions for this crochet bow-free pattern

Section 1 -Upper part of the bow

Round 1: Chain 22, join with a sl st to the first ch, ch 1, hdc in each ch around, join.  22 hdc

Round 2: Ch 1, in BLO, hdc in each st around,  join.  22 hdc

Rounds 3 – 12: Repeat Round 2

Increase or reduce the repeats until you have your desired length.

Fasten off.

Section 2 – Lower part

Row 1: Chain 36, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.  35 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in each st across until the last 2 sts, sc2tog, turn. 33 sc

Rows 3 – 5: Rep Row 2. 27 sc

Row 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st until the last st, 2 sc in last st, turn. 29 sc

Row 7  – 9: Rep Row 6. 35 sc

Row 10: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. 35 sc

Edging

Crocheting around the whole panel

Ch 1, sc in each st around.

Fasten off and set aside

Section 3 – Bow band 

Row 1: Chain 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.  3 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. 3 sc

Rows 3  –  9: Rep Row 2 

Leave a long tail of yarn for sewing; cut off the yarn.

Finishing

  • Place the 3 parts of the bow over each other.
  • Using the yarn left for sewing, sew the bow band ends tightly to secure the other 2 parts.
