Free crochet Christmas tree crochet pattern

Wind spinner crochet Christmas tree free pattern

Making a wind spinner crochet Christmas tree seems fascinating and I can see my house being decorated this festive season with lots of them. This cute wind-spinner Christmas tree can be made over an evening or over a relaxing weekend.

The idea of making this wind spinner Christmas tree came from the wall-hanging Christmas tree I made last year. I knew I wanted a mobile version and this wind spinner is the perfect Christmas tree!

I love that this wind spinner can be made in colors of your choice and in either DK or worsted weight. You could also customize the height of your wind spinner Christmas tree to fit your preference.

Best yarn to make a wind spinner Christmas tree

For this easy tabletop Christmas tree pattern, you can use either a DK or worsted (Aran) weight yarn. The prototypes were made using both. You do not need to combine the different yarn weights, but you can use either.

Adjusting the height of your wind spinner

I love that you can size as you crochet your version of this Christmas tree. Stop making the bases once you have the desired height.

You could also customize the width of your wins spinner Christmas tree. The finished base could be as wide or as small as you desire. Make more or less of each of the bases in the pattern.

Adding weights to the base of your crochet wind spinner

First, you must decide where you would love to place your finished. If you want to place yours on a table, you do not need to add weight to the base.

For those who want to have this Christmas tree as the hanging version or as a wind spinner, you can either make a tassel or an ornament and attach it to the base of your tree.

Finished measurement of the Christmas tree

Small = Height – 8”, base – 3.5”

Large = Height 17”, base – 8”

  • If using Worsted weight yarn, stop making the bases after base 5 as it would become too heavy, except you intend to add wire for stability.
  • If you want your wind spinner tree to be taller, make 4 or more pieces per size.
  • Also, as your base gets wider, it would not retain shape. To keep it in shape you can add wire or fishing line to the last round of the base.

To Assemble your wind spinner Christmas tree

Chain 100 (or longer if you have more bases)

To set up your wind spinner Christmas tree, start with the smallest and gradually until you have exhausted all the bases.

Follow each base with the next similar base with the same diameter

  1. Make a knot at the middle of the chain
  2. Pass a bead through the end of the chain. The knot made would secure the bead from falling off.
  3. Pick up the first base, and pass the chain through the center (middle part from the magic ring.
  • Pass 1 or 2 beads
  • Pick up the next base and thread the chain through the center.
  • Repeat numbers 4 – 5 until you have exhausted the bases.

 How to assemble without beads –

Follow the instructions as when using beads, but replace each bead instruction with one or more knots.
