Gauge isn’t important for this project.

Crochet cupcake pattern notes

  1. Please kindly read through the pattern before starting.
  2. Any #3 weight of yarns can be substituted
  3. Chains at the beginning of Rounds or Rows do not count as a stitch.

Section 1: Bunny ears – Make 2

With CC

Round 1: In a Magic ring, ch 1, 5 sc—5 sc.

Or ch 3, 5 sc in 3rd ch from hook—5 sc.

Crocheting in spiral

Round 2: 2 sc in each around—10 sc.

Rounds 3 – 12: sc in each st around—10 sc.

Row 13: sc over both layers of the remaining sts – 5 sc

Pinch the lower end of the ears and sew the first 2-3 sts together.

Fasten off

Weave in ends

Set aside

Section 2 – Bow

With MC

Chain 22, join with a sl st to the first chain

Round 1: Ch 2, hdc in each ch around, join-22 hdc

Rounds 2 – 4: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join-22 hdc

Do not fasten off, Chain 46

Fasten off

Pinch the bow into two in the middle and wrap the chain multiple times to secure it.

Round 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next; repeat from * around, join—24 sc

Round 5: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next; repeat from * around, join—30 sc

Round 6: Ch 1, *sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next; repeat from * around, join—36 sc

Round 7: Ch 1, *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next; repeat from * around, join—42 sc

Muffin case body

Place a stitch marker at the end of the round and move it after each round. 

Rounds 7 – 14: Sc in each st around—36 sc

Round 15: In BLO, sc in each st around, join. 36 sc

Round 17: *sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog; repeat from * around—35 sc

Set your cake aside 

If you would prefer to complete your cake and stuff to close it up before the facial details and sewing the accessories, continue to Round 20

Facial details 

  • 2 black pins for the eye details – Round 18, 7 sts apart.
  • Place a Pink pin for the mouth details – Round 16
  • Adjust the placement appropriately

Eyes

If using Safety eyes or buttons

  • Attach a safety eye or sew a button in the position of each black pin. 
  • Repeat for the second eye.

If you prefer to embroider the eyes

  • With a darning needle, embroider the eye details.
  • Remove the pins

Mouth details 

  • With a darning needle, embroider the mouth details 

Assemble the ears and bow before stuffing the cupcake. 

  • Pick up one Bunny Ear, and sew using a darning needle to the top of the cupcake.
  • Count 2-3 sts away from the first ear and sew the second ear.
  • Sew the bow neatly to the center of the cake. 

Stuff your cake 

Round 20: Sc in next st, sc2tog around—11 sc

Round 21: Rep Round 20—6 sc

Leave a long tail of yarn, and sew close the remaining sts. 

Fasten off.

Join CC with a sl st to any st left when crocheting into the BLO in Round 15

With the cake top-down – 

Round 1: Ch 3, popcorn stitch in same st, *ch 2, skip next st, sc in next st, ch 2, skip next st, popcorn stitch in next st, rep from * to the end, join –

Fasten off.

  • Place the cupcake into the case.
