Spread the love

A beautiful crochet wall hanging makes a huge difference in any room in which it is placed.

Crochet Wall Hanging

I have a thing for crochet wall hangings, especially when it is one that looks so realistic. What’s there no to love?

This daisy-inspired crochet wall hanging can be placed in different places in the house. Ranging from the living room to your craft room and even in a baby nursery or as home decor.

With the weather warming up, you can decorate your space with beautiful crochet wall hanging. The beauty in this wall hanging is so appealing and also season-appropriate. This is partly because of the detailed spring flower added. This daisy-inspired crochet wall hanging is one that my son would love and cherish for a long time.

Esraa Riyad, the talented designer behind Esraariyad Designs is here on the blog today to share with us her beautiful Daisy Flower Crochet Wall Hanging pattern. This beautiful and well-detailed tutorial is the perfect addition to brighten any room!

Inspiration for this modern wall hanging pattern

In 2014, I decided to take it seriously and learn crochet professionally from a professional trainer in my city (Cairo, Egypt). Now crochet is my permanent work and I focus on it in particular. I first started producing simple products and selling them in the local market and I created my own brand “Slip Stitch Crochet”.

I was always taking notes and recording work steps, but I didn’t think of writing the entire Pattern until last February when I realized that I had to develop my work and take it to a higher level. So, I left my hook and yarns down and focus on refining, writing, and drawing my own designs. Currently, I am very fond of modern tapestry designs, especially those used in home decoration.

I strive to create new and innovative designs that enrich the world of crochet with unconventional designs.

Last month I saw a picture of a Daisy Flower and decided to draw it with my yarns and hook. The Daisy Flower Crochet Wall Hanging combines beautiful colors and an eye-catching nature design, making this the perfect project to brighten up your home. This fun crochet wall hanging uses Intarsia crochet to create a modern piece of art that’s perfect for propping you up in your Living room!

My main focus in designing my patterns is to make the design easy to implement in any color and yarn you prefer, there is no obligation to the gauge, and you will not have a problem in searching for a specific type or thickness of yarn or the appropriate hook size for the gauge.

No restrictions, just choose your favorite yarn in a color that suits your home decor and go with the pattern written in an easy color abbreviation, so all you have to focus on is the correct number for each color

Since you love this daisy-inspired wall hanging, check out this post for tips on how to change colors while crocheting with multiple colors.

Materials needed to make this crochet wall hanging

  • Yarn:

Any Sport 5 ply/ (12 wpi) yarn would be ideal

(Approx. 285 yard / 130 gm of yarn)

Here are my color suggestions for this crochet wall hanging pattern:

Bright Yarn – Cottonish Super Plus

White

Off White

Yellow

Light Yellow

Navy

Teal Blue

Blue

Light Blue

  • Hooks:

o 3.5 mm Crochet Hook (I use TULIP MinD Crochet Hook)

  • Notions:

o Dowel rod or Tree Branch

o Scissors

o Darning Needle

  • Finished Measurements:

       Approx. 20.5 x 11 inch /   52 x 28 cm

(not including fringe or hanging thread)

  • Gauge: (4×4 inch / 10×10 cm)

                    = 18 sts x 22 rows in Single Crochet.

  • Pattern Notes:
  • The Pattern is written in US terms.
  • The Wall Hanging is worked in rows.
  • The Crochet Wall Hanging is worked from the bottom up.
  • The first stitch of each row should be placed into the same stitch as the turning chain.
  • The turning chain doesn’t count as 1st stitch of the row.
  • The odd rows are the right rows and the even rows will be on the wrong side.
  • The pattern is written as a color abbreviation, for example, 10 (W) means 10 single crochets in the color White.
  • The Crochet Wall Hanging is worked in “Single Crochet Stitch”.
  • The color change is made with the final yarn over and pull-through of the last stitch before the color change.  For Example: with color W, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, with color OW, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook, proceed with color OW stitches.
  • The wall Hanging is worked up using the Intarsia Crochet method mixing with the Fair Isle crochet method if needed (I used it to change between white and off-white), but remember you can choose your comfort method as you want, so you can use Intarsia only.
  • For Intarsia, you will not carry the non-working yarn. Let the yarn hang from the last stitch. You will probably have a bobbin or ball of yarn attached to each color block section of your project; I use this method for the rest of the project.
  • For Fair Isle, the non-working yarn creates floats behind the work.
  • The gauge in the pattern is indicative and not mandatory. You can use any type or thickness of yarn you prefer; this will give you a different texture and a different size according to your needs.
  • Color Abbreviations:

(W) = White

(OW) = Off White

(Y) = Yellow

(LY) = Light Yellow

(N) = Navy

(T) = Teal Blue

(B) = Blue

(LB) = Light Blue

  • Stitch Key:

Ch = Chain

st/sts = Stitch(es)

SC = Single Crochet

  • Chart:

A colored chart for the wall hanging is available for those who would rather follow a chart than a written pattern.

  • Finishing:
  •  Attaching the Fringes:
  • To Create the Fringe cut 20 cm / 8-inch pieces of yarn … you will need 2 strands to complete one Fringe.
  • To attach the Fringe, grab 2 strands of yarn, use a larger crochet hook and punch the hook through the f foundation chain on the bottom of the piece, fold the 2 strands in half and loop the middle of the strands onto the crochet hook and pull the loop of strands through the foundation chain.
  • You can use a wooden comb to straighten the fringe before cutting them.

 Attaching the wooden dowel/tree branch:

After finishing the last row in your wall Hanging, don’t fasten off or cut your yarn, just continue and work SC around the branch/dowel:

  1. Insert the hook into the first stitch and under the wood dowel, and grab the yarn in the other hand.
  2. Yarn Over, then pull through the loop and repeat till you reach the last stitch.
  3. Now, chain about 60-70 chains to make the hanging Strap.
  4. Attach the last chain to the first chain on the dowel with Slip Stitch.
  5. Fasten Off and Wave ends.
  • Blocking:
  • You can Block your Wall Hanging with Steam, and let it dry in until completely dry.
  • You can also wash it with lukewarm water, get rid of the water by gently squeezing it, leave it on a clean towel placed on a flat surface and leave it until it dries completely.
